Monday Mischief: Nosey Neighbour

Posted on Monday 23 June 2014

Oh hey mum, I'm just keeping an eye on the neighbours... Making sure they're not getting up to any mischief... What's that?... I'm not allowed up here?... Hehe, oh well... I guess I'm the one that's up to no good then!

You just carry on watching Friends... I'll watch over the house :)

My new baby brother

Posted on Friday 20 June 2014

Tuesday before last (10th), my mum started acting funny - she started doing lots of weird breathing and I overheard her tell dad that she thought she was in labour. I wasn't sure what this meant exactly but as she kept grabbing her tummy, I can only assume it was related to the big bump she'd been growing on her front for the past nine months. Dad started hurrying around packing the car and I got packed up too! After saying goodbye to mum, dad drove me to my Grandparents who I ended up staying with for four whole days! I had lots of fun playing with Wilf and the Black & Whites but I sure was missing mum and dad.

Dad came back on the night of Friday the 13th and stayed with me. He looked exhausted but excited. He told me that my little brother had arrived earlier that day and that mum would be coming back home with him the following night.

Dad disappeared again the following day and came and picked me up later that night to take me home. When we got back I jumped out the car and could hear mum calling my name from the front door. I was so very excited to see her and she seemed incredibly happy to see me too. She told me she'd missed me ever-so much and she swore I'd grown! She smelled a little different today - although I couldn't quite put my paw on it. Mum opened the living room door and told me to go and meet my new baby brother. I walked in and saw the car seat which I'd become used to seeing sitting empty, except now there was something, or should I say, 'someone' in it!  At least I think it was a 'someone'. He was absolutely tiny! - no wonder mum thought I'd grown! He was so very quiet and peaceful and upon giving him a good sniff, I realized why mum had smelt so different.

That night was a stressful and confusing one for me. This little human would cry out and it would hurt my ears. I was very concerned for him and tried to help the crying stop by licking his toes - which did work a few times. Every time he cries now I help mum soothe him by licking his toes - I think she appreciates this as she will ask me to come and lick his toes now, lol.

A week on and he's doing so well. He hardly cries compared to what he used to - mum and I have got this parenting stuff nailed ;)

Welcome to the world little buddy!

Review: Fulcrum Gallery

Posted on Monday 16 June 2014

Hi all! We were supposed to post this last Tuesday but mum went into labour! My little brother finally arrived Friday 13th and we've been a little occupied since! So, here is our post from last Tuesday:

We have a review for you today from Fulcrum Gallery, an online shop specializing in prints, art and paintings.
Mum and I are MASSIVE art lovers so when we were contacted by the company, we were more than happy to do a review for them.

We picked a colourful pop art French Bulldog piece by Dean Russo. You might remember, we previously posted about a similar piece by the very same artist back in March (Fridays Frenchie Find: Dean Russo Art), so when we saw his work on Fulcrum Gallery's website, it made choosing 'relatively' easy! We just had to go for a Dean Russo piece! And quite obviously, the Frenchie print.

We found the website very easy to navigate around. When you go into their selection of Animal Prints you'll find a 'Dogs & Puppies' category, and it gets better... From there they have sub categories where the prints are listed by popular breeds - even the fabulous 'Bulldog'!
(Bulldog is the name for a breed of dog commonly referred to as the English Bulldog. Other Bulldog breeds include the American Bulldog, Old English Bulldog (now extinct), Olde English Bulldogge, and the French Bulldog. The Bulldog is a muscular, heavy dog with a wrinkled face and a distinctive pushed-in nose.[1] The American Kennel Club (AKC), The Kennel Club (UK), and the United Kennel Club (UKC) oversee breeding standards. Bulldogs are the 5th most popular purebreed in the United States in 2013 according to the American Kennel Club  -Wikipedia)

Once we browsed through the 51 pages of beautiful Dog & Puppy prints, we narrowed down our choices and made a decision - we did actually end up browsing for hours, umm-ing and ahh-ing between two prints in particular.

Once we'd finally settled on the print we were faced with more choice! We were taken through to another page where we were able to choose between having the print laminated, put on canvas or popped into a frame - which gives more options including frame type, mats and glass type.

This is what we chose for our final product:

We dealt with a lovely lady over emails who was incredibly helpful. The company covered all costs and quickly sorted out unexpected import charges when the package got to our end (Our print came all the way from New Jersey, USA!)

When the postman arrived he handed over a big box, much bigger than we expected! Upon opening we realised this was to protect the framed print as much as possible. It was thoroughly strapped in with padding and all! It worked, as it arrived in perfect condition.

We LOVE our framed print and would happily deal with Fulcrum Gallery again. What's more! They currently have a SALE on, where you can get up to 50% off!

Excuse the massive graze on my chin, I fell up the steps out front of the house yesterday... Such a clutz!
It's been given pride of place in our living room above the television. It looks fabulous in our brand new home. Thanks Fulcrum Gallery!

Sepia Saturday: Exploring the marshes

Posted on Saturday 7 June 2014

Just off the Tarka Trail is this awesome marshland covered in long grass. It's brilliant fun to hide in. There's lots of plants and sticks to eat and chew on in there too.

FitDog Friday: See me run!

Posted on Friday 6 June 2014

I may not be the fastest or have the most stamina but still... Nothing beats a good sprint along the Tarka Trail :)

Being a French Bulldog, I don't need much exercise. In fact, I require no more than an hour a day! This works well for me as it allows more time for my favourite activity... Snoozing!

As a breed, we have fairly low energy levels which we tend to expel in short, comical bursts. Even though we are champion couch potatoes, we still need to be taken for a walk at least once a day to help keep us at a healthy weight - even if it's only 15 minutes.

Don't let us over do it though, as our flat faces can sometimes make it difficult for us to catch our breath. On hotter days, we should be walked early in the mornings or later in the evenings.

See me run!
